Scheduled Downtime - Blood Transfusion Service - SafeTrace Tx
Details of downtime:
Service Disruption Period: From 10:00 am for approximately 2 hours on Wednesday 4th March 2026.
- Non-emergency requests: Will not be processed during this period.
- Emergency requests: Will continue to be processed as normal.
- If your patient has blood components available before the downtime period – please collect as usual.
Samples:
- All urgent requests during downtime must be submitted on paper request forms accompanying a hand labelled sample.
BloodTrack (Blood collection electronic system)
- BloodTrack will be available during the downtime.
- Paper-based tracking of blood products will be in place for any units issued during downtime.
- It is essential that all blood product tags are fully completed and returned to the Blood Transfusion Department.
Planned Procedures:
- Please carefully consider the impact on patients with planned procedures during the downtime and ensure all requests for blood are made before 9.00 am.
